“Coding is today’s language of creativity.”
Maria Klawe
Intent
At Exhall Junior School, we prepare our pupils to thrive in a digital world. Our Computing curriculum helps children understand how technology works, how to use it safely, and how to harness it creatively. We want every pupil to become a confident, responsible digital citizen, curious about how things work and equipped to use technology thoughtfully and effectively.
Computing at Exhall builds problem-solvers and innovators. It’s about more than screens and keyboards; it’s about thinking logically, making connections, and having the courage to explore new ideas.
Implementation
Our pupils enjoy a hands-on, engaging approach to Computing. They learn to code, design simple programmes, handle data, and understand how digital systems fit into daily life. Lessons are practical and progressive, encouraging children to experiment and learn through doing.
We make sure Computing doesn’t stand alone, pupils use their digital skills across the curriculum to present ideas, research creatively, and collaborate with others. Online safety is a key part of our teaching, ensuring every child understands how to use technology respectfully and responsibly.
Impact
By the time pupils leave Exhall Junior, they are confident users and creators of technology. They can think computationally, approach challenges methodically, and talk about their learning using the right technical language. Most importantly, they are prepared to navigate the digital world with wisdom, independence, and integrity.
