“Don’t dream of winning — train for it!”

Intent

At Exhall Junior School, we see Physical Education as more than sport, it’s about building health, teamwork and determination. Our PE curriculum helps children develop physical confidence, resilience and respect, encouraging them to lead active, healthy lives both in and beyond school.

Through a broad range of activities, pupils learn to challenge themselves, work collaboratively, and celebrate achievement with humility and pride.

Implementation

Every child takes part in high-quality PE each week, including games, gymnastics, dance, athletics and outdoor activities. Lessons are active, inclusive and progressive, allowing pupils to build skills and stamina over time. We teach pupils to understand how their bodies work, how to stay safe, and how to apply tactics and strategies effectively.

Our pupils also enjoy opportunities to represent the school in inter-school sports events and local competitions. We encourage daily activity through active playtimes, clubs, and themed sports days, ensuring fitness and fun are part of school life.

Impact

Pupils leave Exhall Junior with a positive attitude towards physical activity and the confidence to participate in sport with enthusiasm. They understand how exercise supports both physical and mental wellbeing, and they demonstrate values of courage, respect and commitment on and off the field.
Our goal is for every child to leave Exhall with a lifelong love of movement and the motivation to keep active, healthy and strong.
