Intent

At Exhall Junior School, our PSHE curriculum helps pupils to understand themselves and the world around them. We want every child to grow into a confident, kind and responsible individual who can make positive choices and contribute to society.

PSHE at Exhall builds strong roots in character, developing courage, empathy, resilience and independence. Through open discussion, reflection and practical learning, pupils explore how to build relationships, stay safe, and look after their mental and physical wellbeing.

Implementation

We teach PSHE through a carefully planned, progressive scheme that includes topics such as relationships, health, safety, and citizenship. Lessons are age-appropriate, inclusive and rooted in real-life contexts, encouraging pupils to think deeply about personal and social issues.

Mindfulness, emotional literacy and resilience are woven through our approach, helping pupils recognise and manage their feelings. Pupils are also taught about respect, diversity and the British Values of democracy, tolerance, liberty and the rule of law.

Impact

By the time they leave Exhall Junior, pupils are self-aware, compassionate and confident in expressing their views. They understand the importance of kindness, respect and personal responsibility, and they are equipped with the tools to navigate life’s challenges.

Our PSHE curriculum ensures that every child leaves with a wise mind, brave heart and strong sense of self, ready to make a positive difference in the world.
