>> UNIFORM

At Exhall Junior School we have a smart but simple uniform that we expect our children to wear. We believe that our uniform looks smart, is practical and contributes to a feeling of belonging to our school and its community.

All clothing should be clearly labelled. We ask that our families support us by ensuring your child arrives in the correct school uniform, daily.

General School Uniform

  • Plain navy or logo sweatshirt/cardigan
  • White or pale blue polo shirt
  • Black or grey tailored trousers, skirt, shorts or culottes (no leggings/cycling shorts or combat style trousers)
  • In summer months, blue and white gingham dresses can be worn
  • Sensible black shoes/trainers – these should be completely black and not have markings of any other colour or branding.

Sports and PE Uniform

We are pleased to offer our children to come into school wearing the Sports Kit on their designated PE day.

Indoor Sports Kit:

  • All children should wear their colour t-shirt relevant to the house from which they represent
  • Plain black or navy shorts or skort
  • Black slip on pumps or bare feet.

Outdoor Sports Kit

Children will be going outside in cold and damp weather conditions so please do send them to school in appropriate clothing for their safety and well-being:

  • All children should wear their colour t-shirt relevant to the house from which they represent
  • Plain black or navy shorts or skort
  • Trainers (suitable for outside)
  • Plain black or navy tracksuit/joggers.

Forest School

  • Wellingtons or outdoor shoe
  • Plain black or navy tracksuit/joggers
  • A suitable hooded top or sweatshirt
  • A coat for colder months.

Please Note: It is an expectation that branded uniform for the items listed above is preferred, rather than generic items. We are delighted to offer a ‘Pre-Loved Uniform Shop’ in school where we can provide further support to those families who should need it.

Hair

Any hair that is long enough to be tied back, should be and headbands should be in our school colours of blue, black or white. We actively discourage extreme hairstyles such as hair colouring, tramlines and logos, or any other style that could draw attention to the child and single them out from the rest of the school. If we feel a hairstyle is unsuitable, we will contact families and ask for it to be rectified.

Jewellery

For health and safety reasons, we actively discourage the wearing of jewellery in school. However, we do allow children to wear a watch and appreciate that some children have their ears pierced and therefore small plain studs/sleepers are allowed. We also respect that some children may need to wear a piece of jewellery for religious reasons.

All jewellery, including those worn for religious observance poses a risk of injury; we try to minimise this risk by asking that they be removed or made safe by covering with tape during swimming and PE lessons.
